Podlinez is now Phonecasting.com

It seems Podlinez is now phonecasting.com. They have also raised $500K in angel money, and they're looking to raise an additional $10 million series A.

It's the type of system where they assign a fixed phone number to a series (like SayNow). It works for mainstream stuff it really doesn't scale well to the long tail. It's better than the Earkive/Cellecast approach (what we refer to as "voicemail hell"), but nowhere near as elegant as the Foneshow approach.

Phonecasting.com’s service to listen to your favorite podcast by phone is a killer app.
You should note also that they plus it up with the fact that anyone with a phone can now record a podcast from their phone and assign it a phone number for immediate distribution.

In essence I record a podcast from my phone and anyone with a phone (cell phone or landline) can call the podcast i just recorded.

hmm.. I can be cluttering up the airwaves with my Hungarian folk songs in a matter of minutes with phonecasting. No downloads or complicated surgery to my computer hard drive.

Record your podcast and then give it a phone to call..
1. Register for a free account at phonecasting.com (250 megs free)
2. Create your channel
3. Click edit profile and add your phone number (area code first) then add a 4 digit pin code.
Call the toll free number and record your podcast.
Once done recording, select manage and click "Record By Phone" title and describe your masterpiece click submit and BAM! Your podcast is available to the whole wide world.
To get your podcast phone number simply copy your channels RSS feed and paste it in to the Enter RSS feed box.
Click Phone Number to get your own Podcast Phone number.
Ok now..I'm going to grab my guitar and start recording my own songs, then I'll send the record companies my podcast scratch that PHONECASTING number to call and see what they think, who knows maybe my next song will be your favorite ringtone :).
